Along the road - the journey of my life - I’ve been fortunate enough to learn skills and be blessed with gifts, which help to bring enjoyment to other people. One of these gifts is music. I’ve loved singing since I had a voice. Years ago I picked up the guitar and found I could make up my own songs. I certainly wouldn’t call myself a guitarist, but I use my songs as a way to express my spirit.

I was born in England where I spent my first 12 years. The move to Australia with my parents and siblings was a complete change in lifestyle. From a large industrial city to a beachside suburb in Adelaide was a delightful adjustment for me, my brother and sister. Because we used to go to the beach for our holidays in England, living close to the sea in Adelaide gave me the feeling of being on a permanent holiday. I took to this new environment, including the warmer climate, like a duck to water.

I must have caught the travel bug from my father, who traveled as part of his jobs, both in England and Australia. Sometimes he took me with him. I loved exploring and discovering new places. When we moved to Australia, we traveled by ship which took about a month. At that time the Suez Canal was open and we sailed through there. I remember seeing the soldiers on each side of the canal, toting machine guns. That evening the ship anchored there so we disembarked and took a taxi into the town of Port Said in Egypt. I relished the new sounds and sights, which included turbaned men asleep with their camels along the dusty streets.

My gypsy-type wanderings continued when I was old enough to travel by myself. I still tend to move around the planet when I have the opportunity. These days I seem to vacillate between New Zealand and Asia. Wanderlust is an addiction I haven’t been able to shake off.

The skills I’ve chosen to learn are mainly a consequence of my own passage of healing. Because this is a short bio, there is a huge chunk of my life that won’t find its way into this piece of writing. However, I will say that it’s been an extremely challenging journey and I’ve overcome many debilitating circumstances and experiences. This inspired me to be a catalyst for others to make changes in their lives.

For a number of years I enjoyed designing and running personal development workshops. I also supported individuals on a one to one basis.

In 1996 I became an NLP [Neuro Linguistic Programming] Practitioner. It was the same year I received my certificate in Counselling. I’ve continued to study and acquire more skills in these areas. Since that time I’ve always included NLP in every workshop I’ve developed and in private consultations.

NLP is an amazing tool for assisting people to make changes in their lives and I’ve been privileged to witness many changes I hadn’t known were possible. I find that miracles still happen in these times.

Communication skills are also part of what I enjoy teaching. Good relationships are so precious, that if I can help people to communicate well, I feel I’m doing something worthwhile. I’ve often seen heated interactions between people and thought ‘if only they knew a few simple skills, this could have been prevented - or at least could be cleared in a short time.” However, because the people involved didn’t know about those simple skills, the conflicts escalated.

So basically, that’s where I find myself today. A peacemaker who knows there are more possibilities than meets the eye. I believe that if I can make so many changes in my life, then anyone can.
